Welcome to LiveVibe. This Privacy Policy explains how LiveVibe LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application LiveVibe (the "App") and related services.
By using LiveVibe, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, phone number (optional), date of birth (for age verification and analytics), gender (optional, for personalized recommendations and business analytics), email verification tokens (temporary, for account security), and profile information (bio, photos).
- User Content: Posts, stories (ephemeral photo posts that expire after 24 hours), story likes, comments, messages, photos, and other content you create or share through the App.
- Communications: When you contact us for support or provide feedback, we collect the information you provide.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: We collect precise location data (GPS coordinates) periodically in the background when you use the App, including when it is running in the background. This is essential for providing real-time venue crowd data and personalized recommendations. You can control location permissions through your device settings.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, push notification tokens, mobile network information, and IP address.
- Usage Data: How you interact with the App, including features used, content viewed, search queries, and time spent in the App.
- Camera and Photos: With your permission, we access your camera and photo library to allow you to upload profile pictures and content.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Social Media: If you connect your social media accounts, we may receive information from those services.
- Business Partners: Venue information and data from our business partners.
1.4 Sensitive Personal Information
Under applicable privacy laws (including the CPRA), the following categories of information we collect are considered "sensitive personal information":
- Precise Geolocation: GPS coordinates, collected when location services are enabled (including background tracking when you consent).
- Date of Birth: Collected at registration for age verification and to generate anonymized age-range analytics for venue partners.
- Gender: Optionally collected for personalized recommendations and anonymized venue demographic analytics.
We use sensitive personal information only to provide and improve our Services and for the purposes described in this Policy. We do not use sensitive personal information for targeted advertising or to infer characteristics about you beyond what is necessary for our Services. California residents may request to limit our use of sensitive personal information using the contact information in Section 10.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Provide Services: To operate and maintain the App, show nearby venues, calculate crowd data, and provide personalized recommendations.
- Location-Based Features: To show you relevant venues based on your location, track venue visits for analytics, and provide real-time crowd information.
- Communication: To send you notifications about friends' activity, venue updates, messages, and service-related announcements.
- Real-Time Features: To provide instant updates, live notifications, and real-time messaging using websocket connections and database subscriptions.
- Improve Services: To analyze usage patterns, conduct research, and develop new features.
- Safety and Moderation: To automatically scan user-generated content for policy violations, inappropriate material, and harmful content using third-party AI moderation services.
- Safety and Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and illegal activity; enforce our Terms of Service.
- Personalization: To customize your experience and provide relevant content and recommendations.
- Analytics: To understand how users interact with our App and measure the effectiveness of our services.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
3.1 With Other Users
- Your profile information, posts, and activity may be visible to other users based on your privacy settings.
- Your check-ins and location may be shared with friends or publicly, depending on your preferences.
3.2 With Venues
- Anonymized aggregate data about visits and engagement to help venues understand their audience.
- Anonymized demographic data (age range and gender) about visits to help venues understand their audience demographics. This data is aggregated and cannot identify individual users.
- If you interact with a venue's profile or content, they may see your public profile information.
3.3 With Service Providers
- Cloud hosting providers (Supabase) for data storage and authentication.
- Analytics providers (Sentry) for crash reporting and performance monitoring.
- Content moderation services (Sightengine) for automated safety screening of images and text.
- Map services (Mapbox, Apple Maps) for location features.
- Communication services for push notifications and messaging.
3.4 For Legal Reasons
- To comply with legal obligations, court orders, or government requests.
- To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and that of our users or the public.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
3.5 With Your Consent
- We may share information with other parties when you give us explicit consent.
4. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
4.1 Account Settings
- Update your profile information and privacy settings in the App.
- Control who can see your posts, location, and profile.
- Manage notification preferences.
4.2 Location Data
- You can disable location services in your device settings, but this will limit App functionality.
- You can choose to share location "While Using App" or "Always" for background tracking features.
4.3 Marketing Communications
- Opt out of promotional emails by clicking the unsubscribe link or adjusting settings.
- You cannot opt out of service-related communications (e.g., account verification, security alerts).
4.4 Data Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access & Export: Request a copy of your personal information in a portable format by emailing legal@live-vibe.app. We will respond within 45 days.
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- Objection: Object to certain processing of your data.
- Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
- Limit Sensitive Data Use: (California/CPRA residents) Request that we limit our use and disclosure of your sensitive personal information.

5. On-Device Storage
Some information is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers:
- Viewed Story IDs: We store the IDs of stories you have already viewed on-device so the story tray correctly shows which stories are new. This list is automatically pruned when stories expire and is never sent to LiveVibe servers.
- Theme preference: Your light/dark mode choice is stored locally on your device.
- Session tokens: Authentication tokens are stored securely on-device to keep you signed in.
You can clear all on-device storage by deleting and reinstalling the app, or by signing out of your account.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specific retention periods:
- Account data: Until you delete your account.
- Stories: Auto-expire and are permanently deleted 24 hours after posting.
- Messages: Automatically deleted 24 hours after being viewed.
- Location data: Retained for no more than 30 days.
- Notifications: Automatically cleaned up after 7 days.
- App usage analytics: Up to 2 years for service improvements.
- Legal compliance data: As required by applicable law.
When you delete your account, your profile and personal data will be deleted within 30 days. Anonymized or aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit.
- Secure cloud infrastructure (Supabase) with row-level security policies.
- Messages stored securely at rest and automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- Regular security assessments and monitoring.
- Access controls and authentication requirements.
However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
8. Children's Privacy
LiveVibe is intended exclusively for users who are 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If we discover that we have collected information from a user under 21, we will delete it immediately and terminate the account. 9. International Data Transfers
LiveVibe is operated in the United States and is intended for users in the United States. Your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. U.S. privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
EU/EEA Users: LiveVibe is not currently directed at users in the European Union or European Economic Area. If you are an EU/EEA resident, please do not use the Services, as we do not currently have the infrastructure to comply with GDPR obligations.
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know: Right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share.
- Right to Delete: Right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Correct: Right to request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Right to Access & Export: Right to request a copy of your personal information in a portable format. We will respond within 45 days (extendable to 90 days with notice).
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: Right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: We collect sensitive personal information (precise geolocation, date of birth, gender) used only to provide the Services and for anonymized business analytics. You may contact us to limit this use.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: Right to not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your privacy rights.
Sensitive Personal Information (CPRA): The following data we collect is considered sensitive personal information: (a) precise geolocation data; (b) date of birth (used to derive age); and (c) gender. This data is used solely to provide and improve our Services and for anonymized aggregate analytics provided to venue partners.
California "Shine the Light" (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83): LiveVibe does not disclose personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes.

11. European Privacy Rights
LiveVibe is not currently directed at users in the European Union or European Economic Area (EEA). If you are an EU/EEA resident, please do not use the Services. We do not currently have the infrastructure to fulfill GDPR obligations (e.g., Data Processing Agreements, Standard Contractual Clauses, or an EU representative).
12. Third-Party Services
LiveVibe may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Third-party services we use:
- Supabase: Database and authentication services
- Mapbox: Maps and location services
- Sentry: Error tracking and performance monitoring
- Sightengine: Content moderation and safety enforcement (image and text analysis)
- GIPHY: GIF content
13. Tracking and Analytics
LiveVibe uses tracking technologies to improve app performance and user experience:
- Performance Monitoring: We use Sentry to track app crashes, errors, and performance metrics to identify and fix issues quickly.
- Usage Analytics: We collect data about how you use the App (features accessed, time spent, interactions) to improve our services and personalize your experience.
- Location Analytics: We analyze aggregated location data to provide accurate venue headcounts and recommendations.
We do NOT:
- Sell your data to third parties
- Share your data with advertisers
- Track you across other apps or websites
- Use your data for targeted advertising
You can control tracking permissions in your iOS Settings > Privacy > Tracking.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Posting the new policy in the App
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Sending you a notification (for material changes)
Your continued use of LiveVibe after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
